2019年11月、東京・蔵前に開廊。
実家である創業100年三代続く玩具問屋の倉庫だった場所に
父の名〝巖（いわお）〟を冠して誕生した。
現代美術、写真、デザイン、出版を横断する展覧会を軸に、
イベントやワークショップなど、多様なプログラムを展開。
アーティストや表現者と鑑賞者との対話を通じて、
蔵前から新たな文化的価値を発信し、
人とアートが出会う場を育んでいきます。
iwao gallery was founded in November 2019 in Kuramae, Tokyo. Housed in a renovated warehouse formerly used by the director’s family business—a third-generation toy wholesaler with over a century of history—the gallery is named after the director’s father, Iwao.
Centered around a dynamic exhibition program spanning contemporary art, photography, design, and publishing, the gallery also presents events, workshops, and other public programs.
By fostering dialogue between artists, cultural practitioners, and audiences, iwao gallery seeks to generate new cultural value from Kuramae while creating meaningful encounters between people and art.
